A family ranch in Lexington, Nebraska—built on land, livestock, and long-term stewardship.

For more than 30 years, The Mustard Ranch has operated on over 4,000 acres of Nebraska ground. Our work is rooted in practical animal care, responsible management, and a straightforward experience for the families and homesteads we serve.

Our Story

The Mustard Ranch has grown the way a ranch should—through consistent routines, careful decision-making, and a commitment to doing the basics well. Over the years, we’ve built a multi-species operation that reflects real ranch life: daily feeding and handling, seasonal pasture management, thoughtful grouping, and steady improvements to facilities and process. We take pride in being clear, responsive, and honest—especially when families are choosing animals that need to fit their land and lifestyle.

The Ranch Today (4,000+ Acres)

With over 4,000 acres, we’re able to manage livestock with space, structure, and a steady pace. Our setting is classic Nebraska plains—open pasture, working pens, fencing, and the kind of day-to-day ranch rhythm that supports calm animals and safe handling.

What We Raise at The Mustard Ranch

Our day-to-day ranch activity includes a wide variety of livestock throughout the year, including mini and micro Highland cattle, other cattle breeds such as Angus, Hereford, Charolais, Simmental, Brahman, Shorthorn, and Texas Longhorn, as well as Nigerian Dwarf goats, Kunekune pigs, mini ponies, heritage chickens, sheep, alpacas, and donkeys—with additional working and companion animals around the ranch as part of normal operations and seasonal routines.

How We Operate

We focus on three things that make a real difference for families:

  • Temperament and handling: calm, steady animals and practical routines
  • Clear communication: straightforward answers and simple next steps
  • Confident transitions: guidance on basic setup, introductions, and feed transitions
